Fort Wilderness
Walt Disney World
Transportation: The whole Fort
Wilderness complex is just a boat ride
or bus ride away from any theme park. Fort Wilderness Transportation offers
buses that take Fort Wilderness guests from the resort to Epcot, Animal
Kingdom, MGM Studios, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and the Downtown
Disney area.
The boat takes guests from the Fort Wilderness Marina to the Magic Kingdom.
The down side is once you get off the boat you still have walking to do
to get to the bus stop to wait for the bus to take you back to your cabin
loop, then more walking to your campsite.
Because of its size and layout, bus service is available between each
loop and campground facilities.
My father flew into Orlando from Texas with several bags. My father has
trouble walking, there was a shuttle bus at the airport to take him to
Fort Wilderness, once there, he visited the Fort Wilderness office, and
they where kind enough to drive him and his bags by van to our campsite.
I noticed at the office there were many wheelchairs both electric and
non-electric, which can be rented from a private company and delivered
to Fort Wilderness, check in the office for this serves.
Buses
are wheelchair accessible. Some buses have lifts, and some buses drop
down to ground level so that a wheelchair can just roll right in.
